The short version

vBookmarks PRO has no accounts, no tracking, no analytics. Your bookmarks, browsing history and statistics never leave your browser. The only data this service ever receives is what a license check or an explicitly user-triggered cloud feature (dead-link scan, favicon resolution, theme download/rating) sends.

What the license check sends

When you activate or re-validate PRO, the extension sends exactly two things to this server:

• your license key (transmitted over HTTPS, stored only as a SHA-256 hash);
• a random device ID generated locally by the extension, used to enforce the seat cap.

Server logs additionally record the IP address and time of each verification for abuse prevention. No browsing data is ever part of a license request.

What the cloud dead-link scan sends (PRO, opt-in)

The cloud dead-link scanner runs only when you start it. When it runs, the URLs you chose to scan are sent to the server and checked. The job's rows (URLs and verdicts) are kept only for the job lifetime — they are deleted when the job expires, within one hour. The server's abuse log also records the request IP and time.

Cloud favicon completion (PRO, opt-in)

When the local icon chain finds nothing, the extension may ask the server to resolve that page's favicon. The request carries the page URL; the server fetches the icon from the site and caches it by host for up to 30 days (negative answers 6 hours). No bookmark tree or browsing history is sent.

Theme marketplace

Browsing the public catalog, previews and ratings is anonymous. Every marketplace package, regardless of its catalog tier, is downloaded by the extension with PRO verification; this website does not serve packages or collect license keys for downloads. An authorized download increments an aggregate counter. A rating sends a random device ID, which the server stores only as a SHA-256 hash together with the score; there is no account and no way to tie a rating back to a person. Theme packs contain no tracking.

Payments

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, a merchant of record (part of Stripe). They collect the billing data required for the transaction and global sales tax; their privacy policy applies to that data. We receive only the license key activation requests — we never see your card details.

This website

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Your language preference and, if you rate a theme, a random rating device ID are stored in your own browser's local storage only.
